5 Absorbing Facts About Narutoverse

June 30, 2008 no comments

If you’re new to Naruto then these are the 5 interesting facts that’ll give you a head-start in Naruto as an anime and manga. For me, Naruto is like a role-playing game where you develop a single character to make him stronger and beat the ultimate enemy. These are the facts that surrounds Naruto in his growth to fulfil his dream to become the hokage which is presume to be the strongest ninja in the world of Naruto and is responsible to protect the village from any adversities and war.

So here are the facts about Narutoverse:

1. The Jutsus

The ability to perform various ninja techniques and works in proportion to the user’s chakra which simply is their stamina. Jutsu also depends on user’s chakra level in ninja rankings and their elements like wind, earth, lightning and fire. A mix of chakra elements would create a user’s bloodline limit thus enable them to create a unique jutsu of their own. Take mangekyou sharingan as an example. Naruto is typically a ninjutsu user who possessed a wind element chakra.

2. The Ninja Rankings

The ninja rankings are at ascending order:

Genin

The lowest level of ninja achieved by graduating from the ninja academy which marks the beginning of Naruto’s journey to become the hokage.

Chuunin

Similar to Genin but slightly tougher. This time, Naruto has to compete among shinobis from other villages and need to pass all 3 stages to become a chuunin:

a. Multiple Choice and Subjective Test

b. Survival in the Forest of Death

c. A knock-out tournament

Jounin

Is the elite ninja who normally plays a role in protecting the village and train their students. Jounins are typically like Kakashi, Asuma, Gai and Kurenai.

Hokage

The most prestigious position that Naruto strives for and still is. Is what motivates and drives him to achieve the Hokage title so that people acknowledge his strengths to protect the village from possible wars. It came from the word Kage and varies from village to another village, for instance, Kazekage controls the sand village.

3. The Villages

Hidden Leaf Village

The largest village of Konohagakure where Naruto resides and also where the chuunin exams are taken place. Undoubtedly has a significant influence among the five great villages. Founded by the first hokage by the end of the first war at the Valley End.

Hidden Sand Village

The Sunagakure plays a major part as an associate with Konohagakure. The relationship between the third hokage and the fourth kazekage broke down due to disagreement and mistrust. The Sunagakure also influenced by the Hidden Sound Village, also known as Otogakure. It is Orochimaru who plot this conflict and created a war between these two villages, Konoha and Sand. Though in the early part of the anime, Naruto’s influence was less significant however as the anime develops, he become an increasingly important for relationship of both Konoha and Sand.

Hidden Mist Village

Located in the land of water where most ninjas posses water ( suiton ) jutsus. Notoriously known as the bloody mist village with seven strongest shinobis came from the village like Momochi Zabuza and Hoshigaki Kisame. Naruto and Team 7 involved in a mission in an attempt to save an old man from the hidden mist village. Both Naruto and Sasuke fought against Zabuza as part of their early obstacles.

The other villages play less significance in the world of Naruto such as Lightning Country and Earth Country.

4. Hotspot Locations

Ichiraku Ramen

Definitely Naruto’s most visited place where he energises before and after intensive training. He eats and lives with his favourite ramen and in fact, he even kept a few packs in his room for breakfast and supper.

Ninja Academy

The school of ninja academy is where Naruto’s life begins. It’s where he learn and educate about ninja techniques, jutsus and even strategies. Though Naruto is not the type of person who likes to sit down and study instead he perceives ninja as the ability to perform powerful jutsus and winning the battle hands-on.

Forest of Death

One of the toughest place for any ninja to be in. Yet, it’s the ultimate challenge for Naruto and other ninjas to prove themselves against the best. It’s by means of survival and through perseverance and hardwork.

5. Key Characters in Naruto’s Growth

Iruka

Went through the same pain as Naruto. Probably the one who understands Naruto’s loneliness courtesy of the Third Hokage’s advice. He’s the one who graduated Naruto to become a Genin and accompanied treat Naruto some ramen at the Ichiraku Ramen.

Hatake Kakashi

More commonly known as “Copy” ninja Kakashi. Famous for copying other ninja’s techniques and counter it accordingly in most situations using his sharingan. He guides Team 7 including Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke. He’s typically cool, calm and ruthless among his students and especially on Naruto where he suffers the most during the Team 7 journey. Kakashi may be a quiet character but his analytical ability is top-notch and understood Naruto’s background.

Uchiha Sasuke

His eternal rivalry since at academy level. As they grew up, both became more attached and at once Naruto started to treat Sasuke like his own brother. Naruto has always looked up on Sasuke as a yardstick therefore working extremely hard to achieve Sasuke’s level. Both have similarities but different ninja abilities. Sasuke’s aim is to revive his clan whereas Naruto aims to become hokage of Konohagakure.

Jiraiya

Naruto normally calls him perverted hermit which defies who Jiraiya is. His ability is to summon toads and perform fire techniques. He is the one who taught Naruto important and powerful jutsus like the Rasengan and unlock Naruto’s Kyuubi power.

Yondaime

Also known as the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure who prevent the kyuubi’s attack by sealing into Naruto’s body. Former Jiraiya’s apprentice who entrusted his remaining jutsus to Naruto. His spiritual presence remains in most elite ninja’s memory namely Kakashi and Jiraiya. Naruto’s fierce determination and courage reassures Jiraiya that his potential might surpass Yondaime himself.

Uchiha Itachi

A rogue ninja perceived as a wanted criminal, who voluntarily works with Akatsuki organisation. Has a strange yet interesting personality especially when fought against Naruto. Itachi’s purpose remains questionable to all Naruto fans.

The 5 facts are only the starting point, there are many point facts out there in the Naruto series, so start enjoy watching Naruto.

Royalty Free Stock Footage - A New Reality in Video Production

June 28, 2008 no comments

In the past, producing a video meant producers had to hire an entire production team, including a cameraman, gaffer, grip, director, sound man, talent, and other crew members. Then, the team had to be transported to the actual location. If shooting in another country was necessary, the producer had to either fly the entire team there or hire a local team. Either way, he or she faces a logistical nightmare.

After booking your crew, you are at the mercy of bad weather, or the possibility of your talent not turning up. Even worse, what if your client disapproves of the final result of the shoot?

The world of video production is a very different battlefield now. With the advancement of fiber optics and broadband technology, producers are literary shopping their video footage on the Internet.

Instead of assembling a team and going to the location to achieve the desired shot, stock footage providers of all genres, from all over the world, have instead presented their own footage catalogued and nicely sorted on a website, allowing the producer to select, view, purchase and download instantly without ever leaving his or her desk.

We are talking about Royalty Free Stock Footage library. Royalty free licensing is an agreement that allows buyers unlimited use of the footage in a wide variety of ways. There are no restriction as far as the number of projects, release locations, and time frame; they are all covered under a one-time licensing fee. The only restriction is resale, in whole or in part.

Royalty Free Stock Footage are usually categorized by different genres, e.g. animals, landscapes, people, business, food, sports, time lapse, technology, medical, landmarks, background, elements, visual effects and 3D animation just to name a few. They can further be divided into sub-categories, e.g. 3D animation can be sub-categorized into spinning globes, waving flags, ocean and water etc.

While the availability of Royalty Free Stock Footage on the Internet is exploding, it is far from being saturated because every project has unique needs. For example, an outdoor shot can have different lighting moods and environmental settings, weather conditions, color tones, camera angle and camera movements. Likewise for 3D animation, each animator may create, texture and render each scene differently.

In the past, there were only a handful of stock footage companies around. They typically charged a few thousand dollars per clip, and those were not even royalty free. Your licensing cost had to depend on how many times you intended to use the footage, and in how many countries or regions your footage will be broadcast or distributed.

Now, thanks to technology advancement, more people can afford to own high quality video cameras, desktop editing systems and animation software. With increased broadband speed, people across the world can now deliver their own Royalty Free Stock Footage online, via niche websites that offer to consolidate individual video into a huge mega stock footage library. This online stock footage library is easily browsable, offers a secure payment system, and also includes a digital download delivery back-end. Some videographers and animators even set up their own online stores selling their personal video or animation footage. As a result, cost is lowered exponentially.

Typically, Royalty Free Stock Footage prices can range from 10 to 50 dollars per clip, depending on video resolution, uniqueness and technical demands, or if the footage includes identifiable people. They are sometimes sold as a collection of 20-30 clips for as low as a few hundred dollars. Compared to hiring a production team, these affordable rates provide video producers with great purchasing power and incredibly vast choices.

Of course, with great power comes great responsibility. With so many stock video contributors, there is great diversity in levels of professionalism and skill. Video producers must decide on the quality of the shot, based on information and previews provided by the website, reputation of the website to properly screen footage before accepting them, and the reputation of the stock footage providers.

Why I Love Scooby Doo

June 27, 2008 no comments

I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons in their heyday. One of my favorites was Scooby Doo. Watching Scooby and the gang on Saturday morning was a routine for me. As I grew and the show started adding guest stars (like the Harlem Globetrottes) and new characters like Scrappy Doo, I out grew the cartoon. At least thought I did. I now have two boys, the oldest will turn 3 in August. When my oldest son was just a little over 2, he saw Go Away Ghost Ship from the original series.

I don’t know if it was the pirates, the ghosts, or what but from that very first episode, my son could not stop talking about the show. When I told him that I used to watch the show as a boy, he really liked that.

From that point on, he was hooked. He wanted Scooby-Doo sheets for his bed, the Mystery Machine, and anything else that he could get his hands on. He wanted to watch the show non-stop and, the best part, he wanted daddy to watch it with him. He eventually started signing parts of the theme song. He did not always get it right, but it was so cute.

Watching the show became our bedtime-time ritual. Soon, I began looking forward to watching these cartoons, just like I used to on Saturday mornings.

We primarily watch the original series and several of the animated movies. Watching all of these episodes, I soon began to rediscover the humor and fun that I enjoyed as a kid. I found myself watching the shows even after my son had fallen asleep. It is amazing what you remember about your childhood watching the old cartoons you loved.

Since I was watching the show with my son, I also learned to appreciate the lack of violence, adult language, and other inappropriate material that I see in other cartoons. In the hundreds of episodes, you will find little or no fighting, guns, or other violence. When it is shown, it is usually so comical and sanitized that the violence is almost nonexistent. If you have watched any other cartoon recently, you know what I mean.

It has also helped with his fear of the dark and monsters. At 2 my son is not afraid of either, unlike the other kids his age. When his little friends come over and they start talking about monsters, my son gets out his flash light and wants to set a trap. I laughed so hard when I heard my son tell his friend to go into the closet and have the monster chase him out. Clearly, he has learned the art of using live bait to catch a monster.

My son helped me rediscover a forgotten cartoon favorite and all of the joy it used to bring me. In rediscovering the show, I got to spend time with my son, sharing a family-friendly cartoon character. What more could anyone ask of a cartoon? That’s why I love Scooby Doo.

Is the Tamil Film Industry Headed For a Disaster?

June 25, 2008 no comments

The Tamil movie industry is one of the oldest film industries in India. Next to Bollywood, Tamil movies are being produced at record numbers each year. However, the fear that some movie goers have is that there seems to be a lack of good story lines in recent times as far as Tamil movies are concerned. This coupled with the fact that there seems to be a scarcity of actors with strong name recognition in recent times. There was a time when one mentions the name MGR and there was instant expectation of a high quality movie.

Mention the name Sivaji Ganesan and the movie buff could expect a high quality emotion packed story and top class acting. These great movie actors were followed by Kamal Haasan and Rajnikant who also claimed high quality acting levels. Now, however, there are too many actors and actresses, many of whom have no lasting power and staying stamina, end up acting in movies as well as sitcoms and television commercials and this has been watering down their star power. Add to it the fact that many of the Tamil movie actresses cannot even speak the language of Tamil and depend upon dubbing personnel to convey the thought. Not that good Tamil movies are simply not being made; there are high quality hits even in today’s movie world - movies such as Santosh Subramaniam, for example have captured the hearts of the young and the old alike; however, the ratio of good movies to average to poor movies in recent times is disproportionately low. This seems to be a cause for concern.

What can the Tamil film industry do to regain its high audience attraction. Well, to start off, they need to invoke only actors and actresses that claim strong star power. The story line has to be strong - forget about quantity and concentrate on quality productions. Actors and actresses need to be well versed in speaking the language. If Tamil is not their native tongue, then the producer or director must require that they take some kind of a Tamil language course and not let their acting excellence alone have to bear the burden of producing a quality act. After all, the screen has to depict both quality acting and superb delivery.

The Harder They Come - An Ideal Movie to Learn to Speak Jamaican?

June 23, 2008 no comments

I love to watch Jamaican films where I can hear people speak Jamaican. The Harder They Come was one of the first Jamaican films I saw growing up and I was always a fan of the film, so when I got my hands on the 30th Anniversary Special Edition of the film I had to watch it!

The Harder They Come is a movie about a musician, Ivanhoe “Ivan” Martin (played by legend, Jimmy Cliff), from the Jamaican countryside who goes to Kingston, the capital, to make records and launch his music career. As with so many stories like this, things are not as easy for Ivan as he thought they would be. Upon his arrival in Kingston, Ivan is robbed of all of his money and then searches for odd jobs to support himself while using his spare time to get studio time and record music. Finally he is hired to work in a repair shop by a preacher. Ivan soon gets the chance to make a record which eventually becomes a hit, but before he sees the returns on his talent, he sells the song to an unsavory music mogul for $20 instead of his desired $200. Down on his luck, Ivan is quick to fight and ends up killing one of his co-workers at the repair shop. He is soon wanted by the police and becomes an outlaw with a dream of being a hit musician. Eventually, his song becomes the number one song in Jamaica and he is a highly sought after musician. As a result of this film and its soundtrack, Jimmy Cliff became a world famous Jamaican musician.

This movie was one of the first Jamaican films to really give an in depth look into the path so many Jamaican artists followed to become famous. Just like Jimmy Cliff, in the past, many artists went to Kingston to get a record deal. The dishonest music mogul is a recurring them in the Jamaican musician’s road to fame. The other thing that this film presents to people is the “Bad Man” element of Jamaica. A Bad Man is a Gangster and often times, people involved in the music scene are also involved in other less wholesome elements of Jamaican society.

This movie is pretty good for hearing people Speak Jamaican Patois, but not the best. The good thing about the film is that you can hear the Jamaican accent and pronunciation, but it is not the most Patois intense film out there. The Harder They Come is also not a film about Rastas or anything related to the Rasta way of life. It does show a side of Jamaican culture that so few Jamaican movies show, the pursuit to get a record deal. It is for this reason that the Harder They Come has a special place in the Jamaican Film Catalog. I recommend getting this movie to get a more profound understanding of Jamaican Music Culture, but its not the best choice for someone learning to Speak Jamaican Patois.

Soon Come…

Watch Free TV Online - The Best Sites

June 21, 2008 no comments

You’re going to learn about the best ways to watch free tv online from your computer at home. You’re going to learn about the best sites to go to, and about software you can download that will do everything for you and allow you to select full length episodes and movies from over 3000 different channels, which is also by far the easiest method.

Most TV stations such as CNN, TNT, etc. will have free videos on their sites that will allow you to view parts of most of their shows, but not the full episodes, which is the major downside to this method (just going to the TV stations’ websites and searching for the show you want to watch and then finding its videos), but it is free and you do get to sometimes view full episodes, also if all you want is news then this is usually an excellent option because most news stations WILL have full feeds of their news broadcasts available for free on their websites.

Another option is video sites such as Google Video and YouTube, which will almost always have clips of episodes from the show you’re looking for. The only downside is that, although they’re almost guaranteed to have what you’re looking for as far as the show goes, they may or may not have the specific episode you want and they may or may not have the FULL LENGTH version of the episode if they do have it because YouTube limits all uploaded videos to a maximum length of 10 minutes, so you’ll never have a full episode in one video clip on there.

There’s also several websites that are free and have compiled a list of all TV stations’ websites that offer free video feeds of their shows, the two best being BeeLineTV.com and WorldTVPC.com, which both have thousands of different stations listed and organized by country. Again, the only problem being that you have to find your country and the specific station you want and then find the videos on that stations website once you get there, and that’s assuming they actually publish full-length episodes of the show you want, which they probably don’t.
